Do you have a colleague who constantly offers you unhealthy, sugar-laden snacks while you’re in the office? And, once you accept, do you struggle to stop at just one? If the answer to these questions is yes, don’t worry - we’ve gathered together a list of some of our favourite healthy foods to give some ideas for alternatives. All are suitable for guilt-free snacking while you’re at work, and taste great too!
1. Dry Cranberries (50 g, 150 Kcal)
Cranberries are a great source of antioxidants and are rich in organic acids, which help you to burn fat quicker. Perfect for someone who wants to shed weight but still wants to eat great-tasting fruit, too.
2. Whole Wheat Chips (30 g, 140 Kcal)
Wheat is one of the most wholesome food items, and can play a key role in a balanced diet. It’s also high in fibre, which helps ensure you’ll feel full for longer, despite having consumed lower calories.
3. Almond Milk (180 ml, 70 kcal)
Almond milk contains no cholesterol or lactose, making it perfect for those trying to avoid traditional dairy products. Low in fat but high in energy, it’s much healthier than endless cups of tea or coffee. High fibre content means that it also helps with digestion as a bonus.
4. Salted Almonds (30 g, 170 Kcal)
Almonds help to increase your HDL, or good cholesterol, while simultaneously keeping your LDL, the less desirable one, in check. Evidence suggests that it’s also beneficial for the development and health of your brain.
5. Vegetable Chips (28 g, 150 Kcal)
Potato chips are a perennial favourite for office snackers everywhere, so we added a second alternative to this list. Made out of vegetables rather than potatoes, the result is significantly fewer calories in each helping and lower fat, too. Vegetables have never tasted this good!
